How to Join Post1819

If you are interested in joining the “Norwich University American Legion Post 1819” as a new member and becoming a Legionnaire, then follow these steps:

Send in your application. The membership application form can be found at: https://www.legionpost1819.org/about/membership
You will receive an e-mail from us with instructions for sending in either a DD214 with SSN redacted, Active Duty orders, or an ID card picture to verify service.
Your application will be voted upon at the next meeting after receipt of your application and DD214.
After the Post members vote to approve your membership, you will then need to pay your $60 membership dues. You can do this at this link: https://www.legionpost1819.org/product/memberships
Your membership card will be mailed to you once American Legion HQs has your info.
Join the fun on your computer by logging into our virtual monthly meetings which are the 1st Thursday of every month at 6:30pm EST.
The monthly meeting consists of a structured presentation covering ceremonial formalities, roll call​, vote on last meeting minutes, finances, membership numbers, sick call, voting on any new members, on-going business​, service projects​ report, any fundraising​ topics, open to any new business items​/discussions, closing ceremony and prayer.

Emails:
Your e-mail address will be added to our distributions list and you will start receiving monthly e-mails from post1819@legionpost1819.org or tschaal@legionpost1819.org. Please whitelist these e-mail addresses, as all of our communications are via e-mail. Typically, we only send two or three e-mails per month, and no members’ e-mails are shared without specific permission being granted.

Meetings:
We hope you can join us on the 1st Thursday of every month at 6:30pm EST for the regular Post meetings, which are conducted using Microsoft Teams. An e-mail meeting notice is sent the week prior and will include the Teams log-in & call-in instructions. If you don’t have Teams installed on your computer, you can access it using your browser (you don’t have to install anything if you don’t want to). Additionally, if you are on the road, out and about, you can always call-in over your phone and participate as an audio call. That information will also be included in the email.

We also have “in-person” meetings 2-3 times per year; once for our Annual meeting during NU Homecoming weekend, and another one late in the spring & fall semesters at NU. These meetings are also conducted on Teams, so everyone can participate, no matter where they are.

The list of monthly meetings can be found in the right side-bar of the website under the section “Latest Post 1819 News!”. All meetings start at 6:30 PM EST and an email will come out one week before the meeting day and the morning of the meeting.
