2017 Spirit of Christmas Service Project
Post #1819, in conjunction with the Norwich University Student Veteran’s Council (SVC) will be executing a service project over the next few weeks, which is to bring the spirit of Christmas to the 40-50 resident patients of the White River Jct., Vermont VA hospital.
The goal of this project is to work with the members of the NU SVC to purchase, wrap, and personally deliver gifts to the VA in-patients on early December. The gifts will include personal-use items such as
toothbrushes, socks, shaving equipment, puzzle books, hand cream, lip balm, or other similar items as approved by the VA administration, along with one-on-one time spent with each patient.
Preliminary coordination and planning has been done and now begins the necessary task of fundraising.
The estimated budget for this project is $1,200 (roughly $25-$30 per patient) and includes the gifts, wrapping supplies, cards, and an allowance for transportation of the SVC students from NU to and from the VA hospital.
The Post is seeking pledges and donations for this project and we hope you will consider participating in this project.
